Make the Most of your new COGS account!Hi! I’m Stephen Hinton, the originator of COGS and I am going to do my best to help you get the most out of your new COGS account. By choosing COGS you are joining an instant, global community of complementary currency users. And more, the COGS portal provides a host of tools to learn all about these kinds of currencies. Use with friends, or start to mobilize the social economy around your group’s shared resource or interest. We truly believe we are starting to see the limitations of legal tender and we find it sad that good people are out of work, and that communities are lacking in service whilst large corporations externalize their effluents onto the poor. COGS can help reverse that trend, and we want to use the beta test to explore its possibilities. If you need a place to start, do check out the user guide available in the navigation section in the left menu bar. Experience shows it takes a while to get to grips with the possibilities of complementary currencies as we are so used to the idea we must “pay” for money. For you, the benefit of COGS is that it is global. The disadvantage is that there maybe no-one around you who wants to experiment with you. Although friends hardly need a tally system like COGS, if yours are interested in complementary currencies it is a low-risk opportunity to start with them. If you are a member of a group you can register an account for the group. With COGS going, members will be encouraged to do more and get more out of their membership. Use the time sheet system for members to rack up points. They can then get items or use shared facilities for their COGS. You can even set up a separate COGS group and forum pages for the organization. For the privileges to do this, contact the administrator or myself. Finally, do get involved by posting your feedback on the forum. Your comments will be invaluable in helping us take the next step to launching the clearing facility as a commercial venture. Oh yes, as an agent of COGS you can get COGS AND legal tender remuneration. We’ll tell you about our plans for that in one of the next mails.
